Summary
Reporting directly to the Pharmacy Manager/Owner, you will be responsible for assisting the pharmacist on duty and providing comprehensive pharmacy services to customers and medical practitioners. You will play a critical role in supporting the pharmacist by handling the technical aspects of medication dispensing, including prescription preparation, final checks, and inventory management, allowing the pharmacist to focus on clinical tasks such as patient counseling, medication therapy management, and health assessments. Ensuring the accuracy and safety of the prescription enhances the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the pharmacy’s operations.
What you will do
- Provide final checks in a team-based workflow environment, confirming the accuracy and completeness of prescriptions.
- Receive and transcribe prescriptions into Kroll pharmacy software, count pills, label prescription products, and manage the schedule around the preparation and final check of blister packs.
- You will help ensure products stored in the pharmacy are stored properly and monitor expiry dates for both front store and prescription products.
- Assist in workflow and model best service practices to ensure our pharmacy delivers a distinctive patient and customer service experience.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure best-in-class patient care and create and maintain strong relationships through a multi-disciplinary, patient-centered approach to care.
- Engage in health promotion activities (blood pressure checks, blood glucose checks, etc.) and assist the clinical pharmacy team in their duties.
- Manage pharmacy operations in partnership with Pharmacy Assistants to maintain stock, monitor inventory levels and expiry dates, and return expired drugs when applicable while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).
- Remain in good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy by completing yearly licensing requirements.
