Medi Drugs Millcreek is a community-based, independent pharmacy in the Millcreek area. We are proud of our longstanding history as a local, patient-centered pharmacy in Edmonton and are constantly finding ways to grow and provide a safe and inclusive space for all of our patients!

The pharmacy works closely with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and has developed a care approach that puts inclusivity and patient care first. We are also involved in community programs and participate in harm reduction services. We are looking for an eager and compassionate pharmacy technician who sees the value in contributing to a more personal approach to pharmacy care.

Expectations of the Pharmacy Technician:

  • Daily financial report documentation
  • Order, receive, review, and organize store inventory (front-end and dispensary)
  • Process product returns and expiries
  • Front-end and dispensary management
  • Receive and handle queries/concerns made by patients
  • Assisting in maintaining social media presence
  • Participate in staff educationals

The following roles are to be completed under pharmacist supervision, but are crucial to the role (Pharmacy Technicians will be supported in practicing to their full scope):

  • Receive prescription orders and gather/record patient information
  • Process prescriptions in the pharmacy software
  • Prepare therapeutic products for dispensing (counting, labelling, blister packages)
  • Refill/blister pack checking (as applicable to technician’s scope)
  • Point of care testing (as applicable to a technician’s scope)

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Formal Pharmacy Technician education and registration with the ACP
  • Understanding and committing to precision, accuracy, and safety-minded workplace strategies is crucial
  • Excellent communication skills are required to be successful in the position – this applies to both patient and co-worker interactions
  • Experience with “Kroll” pharmacy software would be a strong asset
  • A successful applicant will understand and respect the need for an inclusive health care setting and will participate in maintaining this safe space for all of our patients and visitors!

Additional Information:

  • This will be a full-time position (or PT), Monday – Friday, Saturday we are only open 10-2, closed Sundays and all stats
  • Start date: immediately, but can be flexible
  • Vacation time: our team understands the importance of flexibility when it comes to vacation/time-off. We want to ensure our staff receives time to relax, de-stress, and tend to commitments outside of work.
