Tracy Cliff – Shaping Tomorrow’s Pharmacy: The Power of Precepting

Biography

Tracy-Cliff.jpgTracy graduated from Red Deer College’s Pharmacy Technician program in June 2006, and began working for Shoppers Drug Mart in July of 2007. She became a fully regulated technician in January of 2013. In September 2021, she began instructing in Red Deer Polytechnic’s Pharmacy Technician Diploma program. She has precepted twelve Pharmacy Technician students during their practicum and continued supervising four of those twelve students for levels 2 & 3 of the Alberta College of Pharmacy’s Structured Practical Training. Tracy used to be a member of the RDC Pharmacy Advisory Committee and is currently a Canadian Pharmacy Technician Educators Association (CPTEA) member, as well as the Provincial Representative for Alberta schools on the CPTEA board.

Presentation Description

In her presentation, Tracy will outline the requirements of Pharmacy Technicians’ NAPRA Competencies for entry-to-practice knowledge and how current practicing Pharmacy Technicians can facilitate supervising students and Provisional Technicians to help them become fully regulated and pass on their experience and knowledge that we as fully regulated technicians already have.

  1. Differentiate between the 3 levels of ACP’s Structured Practical Training.
  2. Interpret NAPRA Professional Competencies for Pharmacy Technicians at Entry to Practice.
  3. Support Student and Provisional Pharmacy Technicians on their journey to regulation.
