Professionalism Award Winner 2025: Jamie Burkett

“Jamie’s unwavering commitment to excellence, collaboration, and sustainability makes her an invaluable asset to our profession. Her leadership inspires those around her…to strive for better – for our teams, our patients, and our planet!”
That’s what was written in one of three letters of support nominating Jamie Burkett for this year’s Professionalism Award. The award is presented to a pharmacy technician who is making a difference in pharmacy practice, patient care, or advocacy. In the nomination package, Jamie’s colleagues highlighted the significant impact she has made on others through her consistent dedication to advancing the profession and advocating for environmental sustainability.
“Over the course of her career, Jamie has contributed to enhancing the role of pharmacy technicians and assistants, inspired her peers to raise standards and advance their practice, supported the educational and professional development needs of her colleagues, and consistently demonstrated that she a strong, engaging leader.”
Jamie has championed initiatives that reduce the environmental impact of pharmaceutical practices, acted as a subject matter expert on countless projects, including as an implementation lead for Alberta Health Services’ very first launch of Connect Care, and contributed to enhancing the roles of pharmacy technicians and assistants as a practice leader. She stepped up into a formal leadership role when her team needed it most, fulfilling a manager position that was vacant.
In one of her nominator’s words: “Jamie has made huge strides in pharmacy practice and her career, and I anticipate that I will continue to see big things from her in the years to come”.
Jamie was presented with a commemorative plaque and cheque for $300 at the Annual Alberta Pharmacy Technician Conference in September.
Congratulations Jamie!
