New Vice President – Ivan Yu

Recently, Engi Saleh resigned her position as PTSA Vice President to pursue election to the Alberta College of Pharmacy council. Engi was first elected to the board in 2016 and has made many contributions to the organization’s success since that time. We wish Engi all the best in pursuit of the next chapter in her leadership career.

Earlier this week, the board met and appointed Ivan Yu to the Vice President position until elections are held again at the annual general meeting in September. The Vice President normally assumes the role of the President in the President’s absence, disability, or refusal to act and normally assumes the role of President upon completion of the President’s term. In addition to accepting the Vice President position, Ivan will continue to act as Membership Director.

Ivan’s pharmacy career began in 2003 as a pharmacy assistant. In December 2014, he completed his bridging program at Bow Valley College in Calgary and started working as a registered pharmacy technician in February 2015. He currently works full-time at Calgary Co-op’s Central Production Pharmacy. He welcomes the opportunity to precept and mentor pharmacy technician students and passing on his knowledge to them, so that they can grow and succeed. He is an avid Flames fan and enjoys going to live games. Volunteering with the PTSA has been extremely rewarding and invaluable to his growth as an individual. He has served as the membership/promotions director and promotions committee lead. He has also been involved with the communications committee and conference committee; as well as being a CE reviewer. Ivan hopes to continue to grow, and to expand his social network.

If you are interested in volunteering as a PTSA board member, or know of a fellow PTSA member who would succeed in this role, please watch for the call for nominations later this month.
