What’s Involved?
The PTSA Board is responsible for guiding the Society’s direction, ensuring responsible oversight and advancing the mission through strategic decisions.
Board members:
- Attend regular virtual meetings: 2 hours/bi-monthly
- Lead committee work: 2-4 hours/month (varies by role and project)
- Review email and documents: 1-2 hours/month (includes policy drafts, minutes, etc.)
- Participate in strategic planning/board development: 6 hour in-person meeting 1-2 times per year
- Attend the annual general meeting (AGM) in-person: 2 hours
- Complete orientation/onboarding: 3-4 hours at start of term
- Participate in events such as the annual conference: optional but encouraged
Total Estimated Time Commitment: Monthly average = 5 – 10 hours
Available Positions
Positions available include:
- Advocacy Director: Focuses on influencing policy, legislation and regulation to expand pharmacy technician scope. Ideal candidate understands the pharmacy landscape and is available for daytime meetings with partners when required. Experience in advocacy, public relations, or policy work is an asset.
- Assistant Treasurer: Collaborates with the Treasurer to manage PTSA’s financial records, budgets and reporting. This position is designed as a succession role with the goal of transitioning into the Treasurer position. Ideal candidate is detail oriented and interested in financial management.
- Education Director: Works with other board directors and committees to ensure planned education content is aligned across initiatives. Ideal candidate is familiar with different types of education, has experience with planning events and a desire to innovate educational offerings.
- Secretary: Ensures the smooth operation of the Board through accurate documentation and record retention. Ideal candidate is capable of preparing clear, concise meeting minutes and is comfortable using digital tools for document sharing, scheduling and communication.
- Vice President: Works closely with the President and executive committee. This position is designed as a succession role with the goal of transitioning into the President position. Ideal candidate is able to represent PTSA professionally. Previous leadership or board experience is an asset.
- Volunteer Director: Leads the development and management of PTSA’s volunteer program to inspire member involvement. Ideal candidate is organized and responsive, able to manage volunteer inquiries and coordinate assignments.

Selection Process
Full Members in good standing are eligible to serve on the Board of Directors. Applications will be screened for eligibility by the Nominating Committee. Members recommended for appointment will be included on the slate of nominees presented for election at the annual general meeting (AGM), September 12, 2025. All applicants will be notified of their application status following the close of the nomination period and prior to announcement of the slate of nominees.
