The PTSA Board is responsible for guiding the Society’s direction, ensuring responsible oversight and advancing the mission through strategic decisions. Board Directors lead Committees.

Nicole graduated from Red Deer College as a pharmacy technician in 2006. She completed the bridging program and has been a fully regulated technician since 2013. Nicole spent several years working in a retail compounding pharmacy before moving to hospital practice. She is always looking for new opportunities and challenges to learn and grow her practice as a pharmacy technician. She hopes to be able to encourage others to do so as well as a member of the PTSA board.

CJ Hoban has worked across both British Columbia and Alberta, gaining experience in a variety of practice settings and roles. She is deeply passionate about people and is committed to continuous learning, growth, and development, with a focus in leadership. CJ believes in creating spaces where everyone feels safe, encouraged, and heard. She envisions a world where knowledge, wisdom, and compassion are shared freely, where creativity and curiosity thrive, and where joy and kindness are abundant.

Diane is a pharmacy technician, working with Alberta Health Services on a large-scale pharmacy project designed to maximize centralization of drug production and distribution in the province of Alberta. Her career has encompassed both front line and management positions in hospital, as well as previous experience in community and industry, and a short stint as an instructor in pharmacy technician education. Diane became a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Alberta College of Pharmacy in 2011. She is passionate about the pharmacy technician profession and over the years has volunteered with both national and provincial pharmacy technician organizations. Diane is currently on the PTSA Board and the Pharmacy Technicians International (PTI) steering committee. She lives in Calgary with her husband, Ron and dog, Suzi.

Loren has 25+ years’ experience in various pharmacy settings in Alberta. Her pharmacy passions are hospital pharmacy practice, sterile compounding, and teaching. Her current role is Clinical Lab Instructor at Bow Valley College in the Pharmacy Technician program. Expanding her knowledge in hopes of contributing to a better healthcare system, Loren graduated with her Masters of Public Health degree in 2019. Her desire is to inspire others to reach their “ah ha” moments, to act with integrity and communicate with empathy and compassion.

Carlynn has been a Pharmacy Technician for 11 years having worked in retail, hospital, and long-term care pharmacies. She currently works at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge. Because of her passion for her career and the profession, she wants to do all she can to advocate for Pharmacy Technicians. She is also looking for opportunities to build her leadership skills.

Allie got her start in pharmacy in 2008, working as a pharmacy assistant until becoming regulated in 2017. She has worked in both community and hospital pharmacies and continues to do so now. She has been involved with PTSA in a variety of volunteer capacities, from promotions committee to conference committee. The thing she enjoyed most from volunteering with PTSA was the opportunity to find unique and exciting educational opportunities for technicians. She hopes to continue that and contribute to the growth and advancement of the technician profession as a member of the board.

Rikki began in healthcare as a medical office assistant over 23 years ago and started a career as a pharmacy technician in 2005. She has worked in many long term care and hospital pharmacies over the years and is currently a technical practice lead for Alberta Health Services. After working as a part-time education assistant she took a special interest in education. In 2020 she completed a certificate specializing in adult and community education. In 2023 she presented at the PTSA annual conference and is excited to help facilitate new learning opportunities as part of this new role with PTSA. Rikki prides herself on continuous improvement, critical thinking and innovation in both her personal and professional life.

Ashley began her pharmacy career upon graduating from Winnipeg Technical College in 2008. She works in both community and institutional pharmacy. Recently licensed in Alberta, she is a dedicated advocate for the pharmacy technician profession. Ashley is committed to providing a high level of patient care and ensuring that technicians are able to practice to their full scope. She brings a diverse skill set, including experience in business analytics and project management, and approaches challenges with a strategic and solutions-oriented mindset. Ashley is committed to ongoing professional development and actively contributes to the advancement and innovation within the pharmacy industry. She has previously volunteered with the Pharmacy Technician Society of Alberta (PTSA) on the Audit Committee and values collaborating with peers to advocate for the professional growth and recognition of pharmacy technicians. In her free time, Ashley enjoys spending quality time with her daughter, whether it's exploring local markets, visiting libraries, swimming or attending live band performances.

Sari graduated from SAIT’s Pharmacy Assistant Program in 2008 and soon after began her transition into becoming a regulated pharmacy technician through the bridging program at Red Deer College. She is currently employed as a Technical Practice Leader with Alberta Health Services as well as at a community pharmacy. She was hired on to AHS eight years ago as part of a pilot project studying technicians in the ER and Acute Care units doing BPMH’s. While her current role is in dispensing, she has a passion for technician led BPMH and MedRec activities and the furthering of our scope of practice. She has enjoyed building and fostering professional relationships with both patients and colleagues in her hometown of Cold Lake. By volunteering her time at PTSA, she hopes to contribute to both the education and recognition of her dedicated peers. In her free time, you can find her with her family, coaching her kids' soccer teams, on her peloton bike or with her nose in a good book.

Bijaya has been a registered pharmacy technician since 2013, bringing extensive experience from both retail and hospital pharmacy settings. Since 2019, she has been part of Alberta Health Services, where she not only fulfills her daily responsibilities but also actively contributes to various initiatives and projects. Her involvement extends beyond the workplace through volunteer efforts with charitable organizations in Edmonton. With a Master of Public Health, Bijaya has developed strong project management skills, shaped by her academic background, professional experience, and community engagement. She is deeply committed to Alberta’s healthcare system and dedicated to delivering patient-centered care. Bijaya strives to be a positive force within her team and is passionate about driving meaningful change in the healthcare environment, as a positive change agent.

Kassidy graduated from Red Deer College’s Pharmacy Technician program in 2022. She is registered in both Alberta and Saskatchewan. After graduation Kassidy was hired at Wetaskiwin Health Centre to help with their Connect Care launch projects in November of 2022 and their hub site Connect Care launch in May of 2023. She has worked in both rural and urban hospital sites with Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health. Kassidy is currently employed with Saskatchewan Health Authority and Alberta Health Services. She has a passion for patient safety and commitment to continuous learning. She recently volunteered with PTSA on the nominations committee. When she isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her dog, spending time on the farm and coaching swim club.

Evan has worked in pharmacy since 2019, gaining experience and perspectives from retail, hospital, and education-based settings. A strong work ethic and personal desire to connect with others are what drive him to be involved and learn. He is currently working as a Trainer and Preceptor at the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Center, while seasonally working as an Educational Assistant at Bow Valley College and exploring his online presence by being a creator, digital analyst, and social media coordinator. Embodying the concept of a "lifelong learner", he excels at learning with and from others while being passionate about creating community, transparency, and a space where individuals feel emotionally validated in the work they do. His personal goal is to be a role model for technicians and healthcare professionals by making a positive and progressive impact on the community while constantly improving himself as a person and individual through projects and collaborations. AdministratorTeresa HennesseyWith many years of board experience, including two terms as President, Teresa has continued to help support pharmacy technicians and the Society in her role as PTSA Administrator. Since receiving her pharmacy technician diploma in 1998, Teresa has practiced in front-line and leadership roles in both community and hospital pharmacies and was the first registered pharmacy technician in Alberta. She is currently employed with Alberta Health Services as Senior Advisor, Equipment Strategy & Coordination. In addition to her “day job”, Teresa has extensive experience with other pharmacy organizations and was one of the first pharmacy technician observers appointed to the Alberta College of Pharmacy’s council. She has been extensively involved in the development of the practice framework for Pharmacy Technicians and is pleased to continue that work with PTSA.
