Volunteer With Us: Committees That Need You!

Are you passionate about advancing pharmacy education and making a difference within the Pharmacy Technician community?

Volunteers complete work that will help achieve the Society’s strategic initiatives. Volunteering on a PTSA committee is a great way to help give back while shaping our profession.

The committee chairperson(s) (may be jointly held by two people) are responsible for overseeing the committee’s work.

Advocacy Committee

Members of the advocacy committee:

– Stay abreast of changes in the practice environment to identify new advocacy opportunities.
– Work on strategic initiatives that will expand the pharmacy technician’s scope of practice, such as advocating for injection authorization.
– Help pharmacy technicians integrate into current practice by coordinating the development of tools that support working to full scope of practice.

The advocacy committee may meet monthly to several times/year for 1-2 hours at a time. Committee members will complete work between meetings which will vary depending on the campaigns underway.

Communication Committee

Members of the communication committee are responsible for managing the membership database, website pages and posts, newsletter, job posts and social media platforms. There are elements of design for pages and posts and the use of Canva or a similar creative program is used for publishing.

The time commitment will vary depending upon the time of year. Committee members will primarily communicate electronically but may meet virtually as needed. If you are interested in learning a new skill and getting involved let us know.

Education Committee

Our committee plays a pivotal role in supporting educational initiatives within the Pharmacy Technician community. We believe in the power of collaboration and value the input of our PTSA members.

We’re seeking PTSA members who are willing to dedicate their time, skills, and ideas to help us achieve our goals!

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Planning PTSA education events, including author recruitment and submitting CCCEP accreditation.
  • Promoting external education events.
  • Assisting with ongoing educational projects and initiatives.
  • Attending occasional committee meetings to discuss progress and brainstorm ideas.
  • Offering suggestions and bringing fresh perspectives to the table

The time commitment will vary depending upon the number of CE opportunities being planned. Committee members will primarily communicate electronically but may meet virtually as needed.

Membership Engagement Committee

Volunteer members would be responsible for Canva design, emails, communication via virtual platforms, performing presentations to new and upcoming graduates via virtual platform or in person if ability to do so exists.
Volunteer items would also include attending monthly meetings, research, and brainstorming as well.

We require about 4 hours per month, give or take, and would expect that the workload would be a bit heavier around project months (PAM) or the annual Pharmacy Technician Conference.

The time commitment will vary depending upon current initiatives. Committee members will primarily communicate electronically but may meet virtually as needed.

How to Volunteer

Committees are comprised of at least two and not more than ten PTSA members (depending upon the committee). Committee members must maintain active membership status during the time they hold a committee position.
