Tip of the Week – Healthy Eating


With 2017 just around the corner, you may have patients asking for information to help them make healthy changes to their diets as part of their New Year’s resolutions. MyHealth.Alberta.ca has helpful information and resources you can direct your patients to that will help support them with healthy eating.

Patient’s with hypertension, diabetes or who are at risk for stroke or heart attack may be looking for information on the DASH diet (Dietary Approach to Stop Hypertension). The DASH diet is similar to Canada’s Food Guide and was developed to improve blood pressure. Maintaining a healthy weight and following a healthy eating plan are key steps to managing hypertension and diabetes and to prevent heart disease.
