Tip of the Week – Alberta Influenza Immunization Program Eligibility

In September 2009, Alberta Health initiated the Public Influenza Immunization Program to ensure that anyone over the age of 6 months who lives, works, or goes to school in Alberta is eligible to receive the influenza vaccine.

Patients requesting the influenza vaccine under the Public Influenza Immunization Program must have a valid personal health number (PHN). If you have patients who are eligible for the influenza vaccine but who do not have a PHN or whose PHN is inactive you can direct them to their local AHS Public Health Clinic for administration of the vaccine.
