Peace River Value Drug Mart is hiring a Full Time Registered Pharmacy Technician to help us develop our growing practice.

We are a busy pharmacy providing full scope pharmacy practice (prescribing pharmacists, home health care, compounding services, injection services, compliance packaging) using innovative pharmacy technology and software.

The starting rate will be dependent on experience and will be reviewed after 3 Months.

The successful candidate must be able to hold a valid license with the Alberta College of Pharmacy, be an independent professional, critical thinker, problem solver and possesses the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues. You must be comfortable with using software applications (Kroll and Microsoft Office) and technology without oversight.

You must be available to work 32 to 40 hours. These hours could be between Monday to Sunday with some statutory holiday work.

The candidate would be expected to apply their full scope of practice to help develop and coordinate dispensary operations, such as

  • Gather and enter patient information and doctors’ prescriptions in computer systems.
  • Assess prescriptions for completeness.
  • Receive and transcribe verbal prescriptions from prescribers.
  • Prepare, package, and dispense prescription medications after a pharmacist has determined appropriateness of therapy.
  • Compound oral solutions, capsules, ointments, creams and suppositories
  • Maintain prescription and inventory record-keeping systems.
  • Maintain proper drug storage and security.
  • Place and receive orders to maintain inventory.
  • Instruct clients about the use of health aids and devices.
  • Help customers find non-prescription items.
  • Provide patients with non-drug product information.
  • Prepare and reconcile third-party insurance claims and records.
  • Perform light cleaning duties.
  • Work with exceptional customer service skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Work with clear policies, procedures, and methods
  • Work with the utmost level of accuracy and diligence

Salary: $22.00-$29.00 per hour based on experience, plus benefit package, disablility insurance, group RRSP program after 1 year and store purchasing package
