Hours: 20+ Pay Rate: $46 – $53 Hourly

Availability: Monday to Saturday (9:00am- 6:00pm)

The Pharmacist will oversee the workflow of pharmacy assistants and/or students and ensure that patients are treated with respect and compassion. The Pharmacist will make our pharmacy a preferred destination for pharmacy services.    This position is a 3-month contract with the possibility of extension. Position SummaryThis position is a fundamental role designed to maintain and manage the overall operations of the Pharmacy, including consultation with customers and patients while providing professional pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all privacy requirements are met, including customer confidentiality and consent management.
  • Provide counselling on prescriptions, over the counter/behind the counter products and all health-related issues, including but not limited to indications, contraindications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage.
  • Administer immunizations and injections.
  • Administer witnessed doses of opioid dependency program.
  • Adapt or extend prescriptions as appropriate and required.
  • Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions dispensed.
  • Communicate with other health care professionals within the circle of care to provide optimal patient care.
  • Maintain all records required in accordance with legislation, standards of practice, and policy, i.e., customer records, narcotic and controlled drug records.
  • Promote health and wellness and educate customers and as appropriate, engage with customers both in and outside the store through community events, clinics etc.
  • Oversight of current stock levels and medication orders.
  • Ensure proper preparation, packaging, distribution and storage of all inventory.
  • Complete mandatory training and voluntary continuing education workshops, as needed.

 Education, Experience, and Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Bachelor’s or doctorate degree in Pharmacy
  • Clinical Register,  Alberta College of Pharmacy
  • Authorization to Administer Drugs by Injection
  • Additional Prescribing Authorization an asset
