The Professionalism Award is presented annually to one PTSA member who exemplifies professionalism in their practice. This year the award was presented to
Peggy Pischke, a Pharmacy Technician for Alberta Health Services in the Pharmacy Informatics Department (PhIs). Peggy was nominated by 2 health care professionals with 2 outstanding letters highlighting her excellence in practice.
Peggy provides support to AHS sites within the Edmonton zone for their pharmacy software. she is responsible for setting up and testing system upgrades and aiding with any problems that arise; she is also responsible for creating new inventory items, purchasing records, orders sets and maintaining information when changes occur. Peggy completes month end reporting on workload key performance indicators for a large site in the Edmonton zone. She is the lead PhIs team member when sites are performing their annual physical inventory; and she is a lead contact when software systems are updated or rolled out with the Edmonton zone.
Peggy was a founding member of PTSA and has served on the PTSA Board in different Executive positions including one term as President and many years in the Secretary role. Prior to the establishment of PTSA, Peggy also served on the Board of CAPT-Alberta for many years. Peggy has also volunteered many times for the planning committee for the Alberta Pharmacy Technician Conference. Working in many capacities, including committee chair, conference manager, and education lead, she has continuously contributed to successful technician conferences.
