“From the Outside Looking In, It’s Hard to Understand. From the Inside Looking Out It’s Hard to Explain”

You have likely dispensed medications for patients on antidepressant therapy as approximately 1 in 8 Canadians will develop depression during their lifetime. Maybe patients on combinations of antidepressants, maybe on concomitant benzodiazepines, maybe on antipsychotics, maybe for patients who state (or who others state) ‘have been tried on all therapies possible’.

Were you left wondering, what can I do to help this patient? We’ll talk about the disease state, we’ll talk about some of the evidence for the pharmacological treatment of depression (including combination and augmentation strategies) and leave you with some practical approaches to caring for your patients struggling with depression.
